Help and getting started

Everything you need to get on the tee sheet.

A plain-language guide for Myrtle Beach locals and visitors, from your first sign-in to your next round. If you are posting a tee time, book with the course first; a listing here is not a course reservation.

Golf Guide payment setup & downloadable guide

Step 1

Sign up and save your profile

  1. Open Create an account and sign up with your email and password, or with a provider if one is displayed.
  2. Complete any verification prompts you are shown.
  3. You will land on My golfer profile. Complete the required fields and save your profile before requesting spots.

Required basics

  • Display name
  • Location
  • Preferred tee
  • Notification email

Optional extras

  • A selfie or cartoon avatar
  • Handicap or GHIN number (the site does not verify these with an outside service)
  • Birthdate and age preference
  • Tone and performance playing style
  • Favorite courses
  • Local county and cards, or visitor answers
Step 2

Join a private group

  1. Open the private directory on Golf groups. Select the group name to visit its page. You need to be logged in with a saved profile to request an invite code.
  2. When you request a code, you consent to share your display name, general location and notification email with the group admin.
  3. Enter the valid code you were given in Join private group.

What the code gives you

The code makes your membership PENDING. You get limited group access and can see the approved-member roster (photo, name, tee, age, tone, style, favorites and cards). You cannot view, join or post tee times, and you cannot chat yet.

Approval

  1. The group admin opens the group landing page.
  2. They choose Manage members and approvals, then Pending membership approvals, then Approve membership.

Entering the code again does not bypass approval. Once approved, you can join board tee times and chat.

Private group signup has no app or guide fees. Course charges are paid with the course. Membership approval is not the same as tee listing review.

Join with a personal email invitation

A site owner can invite someone to a public or private group. A private-group admin can invite someone to their own group using Invite a golfer by email on the group page. The owner can also find this option in the owner portal’s group manager.

  1. Open the invitation link, then choose Create account & join or Sign in & join.
  2. Use the same email address that received the invitation and complete the account’s email verification. It must be your verified primary email address.
  3. You will be added as an approved group member automatically. You can finish your golfer profile later; the normal profile requirements for posting or booking still apply.

These personal links expire after 7 days, work only for the named recipient, and can be revoked by an authorized administrator. They do not grant paid membership or Golf Guide approval, or extend an expired trial. Ordinary shared-code joins still require group-admin approval before participation.

Create and manage your own private group

With a paid account, open Golf groups and use the group-creation form. Give your group a name and a description explaining who it is for, then create it as a private group. You can create up to two private groups.

As its admin, open the group page to manage the shared invite code, review pending memberships, approve or decline requests, and remove members when necessary. Share the code only with intended members. Replacing a code makes the previous code invalid for new joins; it does not remove existing approved members.

To set the invite code yourself, enter it in Choose your own invite code and select Save chosen invite code. Use 8–32 letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores; upper- and lowercase are treated the same. Leave the box blank and choose Generate invite code for a random one. A code cannot be used by two different groups. Confirm the replacement before saving. The website administrator can also choose codes through the owner portal. A chosen code still gives new golfers limited access until a group admin approves their membership.

Step 3

Post a tee time

Book with the course first. Posting here does not make a course reservation.

Use Submit a tee time. You need a saved profile, a current account and approved membership in the group. Free trial and paid members can post privately without Guide credentials.

  1. Pick the course from the alphabetical dropdown.
  2. Pick an eligible group.
  3. Choose a membership card: Golf Trail, Passport, Other Program Card, or None.
  4. Enter the date, time and open spots.
  5. Optionally name golfers already joining outside the app. Your foursome includes you, those golfers, and the open spots. First name and last initial are enough.
  6. Enter the individual golfer member-card rate, from $40 to $300.
  7. Optionally add a course guest charge. It is added to the individual rate to make the guest rate. The public guest rate is required.
  8. Agree that you are named on the reservation, you are attending, details are accurate, you will follow membership-card and course rules, and you will not charge extra golf fees.

A private listing publishes automatically for approved members. There is no group or site owner review.

Manage golfers already joining

The group board shows a Playing party roster. The original submitter can select Manage golfers there, or under their posted listing in My Tee Times, to add, rename or remove golfers who did not sign up in the app. Names are visible to approved group members, not anonymous search visitors. They do not create accounts or send invitations. App signups and held waitlist places cannot be edited here.

Adding names first fills any already-occupied unnamed places; additional golfers take open spots. Removing a named golfer releases their place and may offer it to the next waitlisted golfer. Review the spot-count preview before saving. For emailed listings, add names afterward with Manage golfers, or while filling missing details; names are not automatically read from the email.

Talk with golfers on your reservation

Use Round conversation on the group’s tee-time card or in My Tee Times to coordinate meeting points, arrival times and other details for that reservation. This thread is separate from the group chat. Only the organizer and golfers with confirmed app bookings can read or post, and they must still be active group members. Waiting for a spot, having an unfinished checkout, or being added by name does not grant conversation access.

Comments update automatically while the page is open. Active account access is required to post. Cancelling a signup removes that golfer’s thread access; a cancelled round’s history is read-only for its organizer. Round comments do not currently send email or browser notifications.

Private groups only

Post by email

Turn it on once

  1. Go to Submit a tee time and find Post by email.
  2. Accept the Email auto-posting agreement.
  3. Choose Turn on email posting. You only do this one time.

Send it

Forward or send from your verified sign-in email (not merely your notification email) to teesheets@localgolfbuddy.com. If Post by email shows a different inbox address, use that one. Put the details in the body of the email, not only in the subject or an attachment. You need a current account and approved membership.

Already have a booking confirmation email? If it already includes the golf reservation details, simply forward it and add your private group name and the number of open spots you want to fill. For example, add Group: Your private group name and Slots Available: 2 above the forwarded message. You do not need to retype reservation details that are already in the email body. If anything required is missing or cannot be read, the reply will include a link to add those details.

The full list below is a reference for what the email needs to contain; details already in the forwarded confirmation do not need to be repeated.

  • The original course confirmation
  • Group: your intended approved private group name
  • Course: the exact course name from the catalog
  • Date: YYYY-MM-DD, in the future
  • Time: explicit AM or PM, local time
  • Open spots: 1 to 3. Supported examples: “Slots Available: 2”, “Open spots: 2”, “Available slots: 2”, “Visitor spots: 2”, “2 spots available”, “2 open spots”, “2 spaces to fill”, “Players needed: 2”, “Need 2 more golfers”, or “Looking for two players”.
  • Member rate per golfer: $40 to $300
  • Membership card
  • Confirmation number (optional)

Copy this template into your email, then replace the example values before sending.

Group: Your approved private group
Course: Exact course name from catalog
Date: YYYY-MM-DD
Time: 9:30 AM
Slots Available: 2
Member rate: $65
Membership card: Passport
Confirmation number: Your booking number

What happens next

  • If you are in more than one group, name the destination group.
  • Minor course spelling variants may be matched. Ambiguous names need correction.
  • A standalone group name above the forwarded message is recognized when it ends in “Group”, “Golfers”, or “Regulars” and exactly matches one of your approved private groups. For other names, use “Group: Your group name”.
  • Forwarded Golf Trail and Passport booking tables are supported. An explicitly labeled booking total is divided by its golfer count; the golfer count is never treated as the number of open spots. Conflicting spot counts or unclear details require correction.
  • Complete emails publish automatically without review, and a success reply confirms it.
  • Incomplete emails stay pending. The reply contains an authenticated Add missing details link.
  • See the status list in Post by email.
Delivery is not promised to be immediate, not every attachment is recognized, and there is no manual approval step for complete emails.
Browse

Find rounds and courses

On the homepage, use Find a round to search public listings and the private listings of groups where you are an approved member. A private listing shows a minimal Private group card that links to the group.

The Golf courses directory has course information. It does not guarantee reservation availability.

Private-group alternates and waitlists

Full private tee times stay on the group board. Approved members with a complete profile and active account can select Join waitlist for one golfer. You can see your waiting position and leave the queue at any time. The host can see the alternate list; other golfers cannot see who is waiting.

When someone cancels, the next eligible golfer gets a held spot and an email at their profile notification address. Sign in, open the group, accept the booking terms, and select Accept spot before the displayed deadline. Offers last up to 24 hours and always end at least two hours before play. Declining or letting an offer expire passes the spot to the next golfer. Joining a waitlist is not a confirmed booking and does not charge you. Private rounds have no app or guide fees; pay the course directly. Once accepted, the existing 48-hour self-cancellation rule applies.

Manage

My Tee Times and cancellations

Open My Tee Times for the Upcoming and Cancelled/past tabs.

  • Archive and Restore are personal. They do not cancel or delete the shared round.
  • If you posted it, Cancel tee time notifies joined golfers.
  • Guides: cancelling two public tee times with confirmed, paid golfers in a rolling 30-day period triggers a $10 charge against your Guide earnings, no more than once per 30 days. Each tee time counts once. Any unpaid balance carries forward to future earnings; no external bank debit is made. Review your count and charges in My Guide Payouts. Golfer refunds are unchanged.
  • If you joined, Cancel my spot works until at least 48 hours before the tee time and notifies the host.
  • For a confirmed paid public booking cancelled at least 48 hours before play, the Guide fee and no-show deposit are refunded automatically, the $10 platform fee per golfer is retained, and your spots reopen. No owner approval is needed. Check Booking payments in My Tee Times for refund status. Round payments and refunds are test-only.
  • Within 48 hours, call the course directly. Site actions do not change your course booking.
  • If a host cancels a paid public-group listing before tee-off, the platform fee, Golf Guide fee and no-show deposit are automatically refunded to the original payment method. Check Booking payments under Cancelled / Past tee times for the refund status. No completion confirmation, receipt or owner approval is needed. Test mode only; bank processing is not instant. A golfer cancelling their own spot follows the separate cancellation policy.

Alerts and sign-out

On My golfer profile you can manage:

  • Email alerts, which are opt-in and use your notification email.
  • Browser push for each device. It is opt-in, needs your permission, and works only in compatible browsers. Support on every mobile device is not guaranteed.
  • An optional phone number for the future. SMS is not enabled.

On an iPhone or iPad, you may need to add the site to your Home Screen and open it from there before enabling browser push. Follow the device guidance shown with the notification settings.

To sign out, select Log out in the website header.

Plans

Membership and hosting

On the Membership page, you can see your plan and trial or subscription dates. The launch trial lasts six calendar months. When it expires, new bookings, tee-time posts and group activity are blocked; your profile and existing records are preserved. Paid membership is $24 per year and lets you create and administer up to 2 of your own private groups. Groups you only join do not count.

Public hosting

Become a Golf Guide to post and earn Guide fees in Play Myrtle Beach. Submit your verification details, wait for approval, and join the group before listing. You can post and earn Guide fees during your initial six-month trial; after it ends, paid membership is required to continue. Grand Strand Local Links allows member posting without Guide approval but never allows Guide fees, website fees or deposits; golfers pay the course directly. Only the site admin creates public groups.

  • Guide fee choices per golfer: $0, $5, $10, $15 or $20.
  • Checkout is $10 per golfer, plus the guide fee, plus a refundable no-show deposit equal to the member rate.
  • Course charges are paid separately to the course.
  • Deposit refund receipts need owner approval, or both golfer and host confirming completion. Nothing is guaranteed instantly.
Payment modes: Check Membership for live or test membership billing. Golf-round checkout, deposit refunds and Guide payouts remain test-only.
FAQ

Public tee times: deposits and no-shows

These answers apply to visitors with confirmed, paid public-group Golf Guide bookings. They do not apply to private-group rounds or public local-play rounds where golfers pay the course directly without Website fees or a deposit.

What happens if I do not show up for my tee time?

If you do not attend your confirmed tee time, your platform fee and Golf Guide fee are forfeited and are not refunded. What happens to your no-show deposit depends on whether the host actually pays a no-show fee to the golf course.

Will I get my deposit back if a replacement golfer fills my spot or the course waives the fee?

Yes. If a replacement golfer fills your spot so the host is not charged a no-show fee, or the golf course waives that fee, your deposit is refunded to you, the visitor—not paid to the host. Your platform fee and Golf Guide fee remain forfeited and are not refunded.

What if the golf course charges the Guide a no-show fee?

If the Guide pays a course no-show fee because you did not attend, your entire Website payment is forfeited: the platform fee, Golf Guide fee, and full no-show deposit. The deposit is paid to the Golf Guide only after review and approval of proof that the Guide paid the golf course’s no-show fee.

What proof must the Guide provide?

The Guide must submit a course-issued receipt or other proof of payment showing the no-show fee paid to the golf course for the visitor’s missed tee time. Reporting a no-show alone does not authorize release of the deposit. The evidence must be reviewed and approved before the deposit can be paid to the Guide.

Does this change the cancellation policy?

No. These answers concern a visitor who does not show up, not a timely cancellation. Existing timely visitor-cancellation refunds and full refunds when a host cancels before play remain separate. See the Payment, Cancellation, and Refund Policy for those rules.

Payment availability: Golf-round checkout, refunds, and Guide payouts remain test-only. Publishing this FAQ does not enable live golf-round payments.

Troubleshooting

A course is missing

If the course dropdown is empty, use Refresh courses or Retry if shown, then reload the page. Choose from the catalog rather than typing a course name. If a particular course is absent, it may not currently be available in the catalog.

No eligible groups

Check that your membership in the group is approved and that your trial or membership is current.

My email did not create a listing

  • Confirm email posting is turned on.
  • Send from your verified sign-in email, with the details in the body.
  • Check that the group is one where you are approved.
  • Check your spam folder for the reply.
